PIPA PLUTO™

The PLUTO™ system is the latest product in long distance large diameter pipe inspection technology. The system offers HD CCTV inspection of pipelines up to a distance of 2000 metres, along with acoustic leak detection, pressure and temperature monitoring within a single survey. Unlike conventional ROV crawler systems, PLUTO can navigate around numerous bends and over obstacles due to the unique flexible design and in pipe cabling technique for pipe inspection.

Used in conjunction with the Pipeline™ in pipe cabling system, PLUTO can be used to survey pipelines distances up to 2000 metres and in all sized large Trunk main pipelines, which is retracted through the pipeline during a recorded survey using a motorised cable drum.

The system requires pipe access points of 10 inch or above which could include a removed air release valve or similar.

The new approach to pipe inspection will revolutionise the industry, reduce the risk factor during inspections, and offer reliable and stable HD CCTV data.

Unlike other floating CCTV systems that disturb pipe sediment during a survey. The PLUTO surveys against the water flow direction and in turn offers a true condition assessment, with a clear and stable image as it remains tethered throughout the inspection.  Alternatively the survey can be completed in an empty pipeline including new pipe installations. The product is also ideal for ducting surveys prior to pulling fragile data cables, as it can identify joint and weld condition, along with debris ingress. The delivery cable is made from PU coated galvanised steel for all harsh environments, and safe to use in potable water mains.

The unique product incorporates the latest in diving technology to offer the user pressurised or depressurised pipe inspections through a range of pipe diameters. The unit is self-powered and can record for up to 12 hours on a full charge.

The PLUTO system can enter via a DN250 strategic riser on a pipeline dependent on pipe size, removed air release valve or open duct section.

Additional Features

PLUTO also records amplified sound within a pipe for leak detection that can also be undertaken during a survey and offer a full leakage sweep during an inspection. The video and acoustic data can be analysed post survey to determine any interesting pipe features and leaks.

During a PLUTO survey, true condition assessment can be undertaken to confirm visual pipe condition, detect leaks, confirm pressure drops, and highlight risks on low temperature pipe area zones.

All of the data can be submitted to clients in a detailed data report, all obtained through a single survey.

PIPA Acoustic Software for analysing and recording leakage 

PIPA has developed a user friendly software, to enable the operater to record pipe inspection acoustic data, and also to analise the information on or off site in the fraction of the time of listening to the data. The software also identifies leak patterns and displays these on spectographs for client reporting. Pipe inspection and leak detection is a specialist service, and all data should be studied as part of the survey procedure by a dedicated team member or report analysist.
